Fire is ever present in the outback and is a regenerating force of nature, splitting open the outer crusts of long dormant seed pods, which after rain then germinate. This painting shows the new wildflower blooms the season after a severe fire ringed the township of Tom Price, in the Pilbara of Western Australia.
